XCD2 Multi-Axis Controller

XCD2 Multi axis amplifier & control board is a dual axis OEM amplifier and control board designed for applications using the Edge & Edge-4X motors.

Initial applications can pursue feasibility with our Evaluation Kit that has board level components that serves as a dual axis controller and can support a mixture of motor configurations. This can be a mixture of multiple Edge motors or multiple Edge-4X motors per axis. The XCD2 also supports Nanomotion’s gyro input for dual axis stabilization. The XCD2 is programmed via IIC and can support quadrature encoder input as well as BiSS.

OEM applications can be supported with either an XCD2 chip level solution that is integrated on customer boards, based on using our Reference Design for the processor and drive components.

Nanomotion can also support OEM applications with a custom board configuration, based on configuring single and multi-axis drive/control boards to a customer specification.

Additional Information

The XCD2 is based on an ST Micro chip, STM32F, working as a dual axis, closed loop motion controller. The XCD2 supports 2 axes of motion in the standard (AB1A) or linear (AB5) mode of operation. It is an advanced 32-bit ARM 168MHz floating point processor with a configurable servo rate, up to 20KHz.

Communication is via UART, I2C, SPI and USB, along with an embedded gyro interface using the SPI port. The XCD2 supports advanced I/O’s with (8)GPIO, (2) DACs with configurable parameters.
