Frictional contact point is dependent on both the seleciton of these two matierals...Nanomotion’s piezo motors use the principles of an ultrasonic standing wave to transmit motion from a ceramic motor tip to a ceramic drive strip/ring. This frictional contact point is dependent on both the selection of these two materials, to yield a known coefficient of friction as well as the processing, to providing the necessary performance and product life. Over the past 2 decades, we have experimented with a range of ingredients and chefs, to optimize the performance of our motors and our experts have perfected the friction pair between our motor and drive surface. This friction pair is what we have offered to the marketplace for over 15 years. While it may seem second nature to most of our customers, as motors and stages are ordered with the mating ceramic drive surface, there have been tendencies for some to experiment with third party ceramic drive surfaces that are not qualified by Nanomotion. Due to the critical natur of the motor tip and drive surface relationship...This process will most definitely diminish the functional life of the motor and result in premature failure as well as excessive wear during operation. Due to the critical nature of the motor tip and drive surface relationship, Nanomotion will only warrant a motor that uses our drive surface materials. These materials have been optimized for motor performance and life and are available in a wide range of standard and custom sizes. We have seen customer initiatives to use alternative materials...We have seen customer initiatives to use alternative materials, always resulting in premature motor failure. So, to maintain product integrity it is essential to use the best ingredients prepared by those that are expert in processing them.
